Finally Made It!

Well I just enjoyed my first Hong Kong breakfast... A western omelet with bacon and hash browns! Yum! I also tried show-mai and bun (spelled phonetically), which were both very good as well.

I only have 15 minutes before I have to run to our first school meeting, so let me at least leave you with some pictures! I snapped a photo of the Chicago skyline from the runway (illegally--shh, don't tell), which was at about 12:30 central time. Once I settled in, I changed my watch the 15 hours needed to get to Tokyo time.

I have to say, I couldn't imagine doing this flight in coach. I took a picture of my beautiful meal, but what was really important was my personal TV. I think I made it through 5 movies on the flight, but I'll share more details later...

I expected to be flying in the dark for most of the flight, as the plane flew north over Alaska and the Russian Kamchakta Peninsula (spelling...) before turning south and heading to Tokyo. The sun actually never set on us until we were descending into Tokyo. Here's a picture of Alaska from 40,000 feet!

When we finally approached the land of the rising sun, we were greeted by a beautiful sunset:

And finally, for now, here's a beautiful shot of the sun perfectly behind Mount Fuji. It was amazing to watch!

Oops, one more. This was the meal I got on the flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong... Don't know what it was, but the best part was the wine!

More to come later, but for now I have to run!
